On Friday, April 7th, 2017, the International Youth Exchange Programme of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah organized a cultural tour to Beisan and Nazareth city for the university students to learn about the areas’ history and nature.

The tour included a hiking trip to Mount Gilboa in the Marj Ibn Amer region which is one of the most important natural reserves that contains rare wild plants and birds.

The tour guide introduced the students to the Battle of Ain Jalut which took place on September 3rd, 1260 between Muslim Mamluks and the Mongols in the southeastern Galilee. The students were introduced to the agricultural life in the area and learned about its history prior and post 1948 Nakba. They were also exposed to the original Palestinian names of the villages.

The students then went to Nazareth where they visited the Church of the Annunciation, the White Mosque, the old city and the city cemetery.
