An-Najah Signs an MOU with the Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII)
On Monday, March 13th, 2017, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received at his office a delegation from the Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII).
The delegation included Ms Lana Katbeh, Director General; Mr. Joseph Sehwail, Programme Manager; Ms Fawz Abuhijleh, Business Advisor and Ms Dima Haniya, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at MEII.
The meeting aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and MEII through an internship programme for the university’s accounting students.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the service the university offers in terms of students’ training.
The delegation in turn stressed the importance of this cooperation and discussed the possibility of expanding it through implementing other programmes for other academic disciplines.
Dr. Amer Hamouz, Director of the Practical Training Centre talked about the centre and the services it offers through inviting local companies to interview An-Najah alumni. He recommended giving feedback on the programme students’ performance to the university supervisor, allowing students to work in different institutions and inviting MEII experts to prepare the students for the training.
At the end of the meeting, both parties signed the MOU which aims at facilitating and supporting internship opportunities for An-Najah students in local organizations and governing the relationship between MEII and An-Najah with respect to student interns from the University in order to enter into an internship arrangement with MEII.
MEII is a non-profit organization that leverages public and private resources to deliver finance and technical assistance programmes to stimulate sustainable economic activity and long lasting job creation in the Middle East and North Africa.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Saed Al-Koni, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences; Dr. Muiz Abu Alia, Head of the Accounting Department and Ms Shatha Jararaa from the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.
