Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, received Professors Nicole Breust and Elizabeth Zeem from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (TPH) of the University of Basel in Switzerland.


Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, received Professors Nicole Breust and Elizabeth Zeem from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (TPH) of the University of Basel in Switzerland.

The meeting aimed at discussing a project that the university is implementing in cooperation with the Swiss TPH on the relationship between psychological disorders and depression with heart diseases in the Palestinian community.

 

Prof. Natsheh talked about An-Najah’s recent research achievements and the impact of the occupation on public health in Palestine. He also stressed the importance of applying the research cooperation between both An-Najah and the institute.

He then talked about the international projects the university participated in recently.

 

Prof. Breust in turn talked about the importance of the collaboration with An-Najah and referred to the hard efforts the institute has been making since 1943 to develop public health in Switzerland and the rest of the world.

The delegation programme includes hosting meetings at the Faculty of Medicine and An-Najah National University Hospital to discuss details with regard to the project.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Imad Dweikat, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Drs Abdulsalam Khayyat and Amira Shaheen, staff members at the Faculty of Medicine at An-Najah as well as student Hala Labadi, An-Najah candidate to the Swiss TPH.

The project is supervised by Dr. Khayyat and Dr. Dweikat.
