An-Najah Receives Professor Bruce Lankford from Britain
On Monday, January 23rd, 2017, the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights, Democracy and Peace at An-Najah received Bruce Lankford, Professor of Water and Irrigation Policy at the University of East Anglia in Britain.
Prof. Lankford gave a lecture in the New Campus library and discussed using shared alternative waters in the Palestinian irrigation system as part of the shared alternative waters evaluation project. The project is based on an agreement between the UNESCO Chair in cooperation with the Water and Environmental Studies Institute and the University of Montpellier.
Dr. Joni Assi, UNESCO Chair Director introduced Prof. Lankford and talked about his education, research production and career. Prof. Lankford in turn talked about the shared alternative waters and displayed cases of different countries which depend on shared alternative waters. He also discussed water conservation mechanisms pointing out that individual water conservation always leads to a general conservation of water level in the country.
