On Monday, November 14th, 2016, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah National University received at his office a delegation from the Faculty of Medicine at Pierre and Marie Curie University-Paris 6 (UPMC) .


The French delegation was represented by Prof.  Prof. Jean Chambaz, President of UPMC; Prof. Bruno Riou, Dean of Medicine Faculty at UPMC; Prof. Rose Katz who is in charge of the cooperation between UPMC (Paris 6) and Palestinian medical faculties and Mr. Olivier Dufour, Attaché of University and Institutional Cooperation.

Prof. Natsheh introduced the guests to An-Najah faculties, programmes, research projects and academic achievements in the light of the political and financial difficulties it encounters. He stressed the importance of the continuity of cooperation between both An-Najah and UPMC in terms of scientific research and students’ exchange. He also thanked the French Consulate General Jerusalem for facilitating and encouraging this cooperation.

Prof. Chambaz talked about the importance of cooperation with An-Najah which started 13 years ago. During this period, 10 of An-Najah candidates to UPMC obtained their Masters degree and worked on encouraging the cooperation between both universities.

The delegation also met with An-Najah students who graduated from UPMC to discuss further means of cooperation in terms of scientific research.

At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to learn about its staff, labs and facilities. They also visited An-Najah National University Hospital and its various departments.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Sabri Naser, Vice President for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Imad Dweikat, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; Dr. Rasha Khayyat, Coordinator of the Scholarships Office and Ms Dalal Radwan from the International Office at An-Najah.
