On Tuesday, October 25th, 2016, An-Najah National University participated in the 4th International Conference of the School of Pharmacy Convenes and the second Conference of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy at Jordanian Universities under the theme: "Excellence in Pharmacy Education & Research: A Quality Approach".


The conference was over three days from October 25th-27th and took place at the University of Jordan.

The conference shed light on latest trends in research and practice in pharmacy as a science and professional practice.

Dr. Waleed Sweileh, Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences gave a lecture on pharmacy profession in Palestine, the development of pharmacy education and its future aspirations there. He also talked about the necessity of integrating the pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy programmes and called the Jordanian universities to offer Palestinian universities the needed support to obtain the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ASPE) and start offering the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) in Arab American universities.

Dr. Saed Zyoud, Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine also gave a lecture to discuss his paper on the pharmacist's role in helping patients quit smoking. He stressed the importance of enriching study plans with courses that focus on addiction to smoking, therapy and other related topics.

In turn, Dr. Ramzi Shawahneh participated in his research about solubility of the drugs for children related to the child’s age.

The conference was also attended by international scientists and experts in pharmacy education and research.
