In a momentous stride toward a noble objective and a groundbreaking medical feat in Palestine, the Bank of Jordan and An-Najah National University Hospital have formalized a memorandum of understanding. This agreement solidifies the Bank of Jordan's commitment to generously support the acquisition costs of the first-of-its-kind blood irradiation device in Palestine—an X-Ray Irradiation System. The primary goal is to usher in a transformative era in the treatment of leukemia for both adults and children.


The signing ceremony, was graced by esteemed dignitaries including His Excellency Prof. Rami Al-Hamdallah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of An-Najah National University Hospital, His Excellency Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr. Assem Salem, and His Excellency Governor of Nablus Governorate, Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, marked a historic alliance between the financial and medical sectors. Also present were Dr. Sami Hijjawi, the Mayor of Nablus, Mr. Saif Issa, the Regional Director of the Bank of Jordan in Palestine, Dr. Iyad Maqbool, the Acting Director General of An-Najah National University Hospital, and key members of the Board of Trustees of the university and hospital. The event garnered significant attention from the media and news agencies, highlighting the importance of this collaboration.

During the ceremony, Mr. Issa expressed his jubilation for this pioneering achievement, foreseeing its potential to catalyze a paradigm shift in the treatment of leukemia patients and substantially elevate recovery rates. He emphasized that this donation aligns with the national plan to localize medical services through the empowerment of institutions and talents operating within Palestine.

Commending the commendable efforts of An-Najah National University and its hospital, Mr. Issa lauded their groundbreaking initiatives aimed at enhancing health, medical, and educational services for citizens.

Dr. Maqbool, in turn, acknowledged the Bank of Jordan's pivotal role in supporting the hospital's endeavors to advance cancer treatment, especially for pediatric patients. Recognizing this contribution as a qualitative enhancement in the field, he underscored the hospital's commitment to being the foremost educational medical center in Palestine, dedicated to elevating health service standards and promoting education and scientific research in health-related disciplines.

This significant backing from the Bank of Jordan underscores its unwavering commitment to social responsibility. It forms an integral part of the bank's comprehensive and ongoing strategy, with a pivotal focus on supporting the health sector. The strategy emphasizes effective, long-term societal impact through investments in cutting-edge medical technology, fostering strategic partnerships with local community institutions.

Foreseen as a catalyst for positive outcomes, this achievement is poised to elevate recovery rates for leukemia patients in Palestine significantly.
