On Wednesday, September 28th, 2016, the American Corner Nablus of the International Office at An-Najah in cooperation with the Palestinian Assembly for Photography (PAPE) and Exploration inaugurated the “Jawlat” photo gallery at the Faculty of Fine Arts Square in the New Campus.


The gallery was over two days from September 28th-29th, 2016 and was part of a training workshop organized by the American Corner Nablus for 12-16 year old students from Balata and Askar camps. The workshop consisted of 30 training hours and was supervised by a group of Palestinian photographers.

Jawlat aimed at encouraging Palestinian youth to learn more about photography to develop their professional skills in this field.

The gallery included photos taken by the students, local photographers and others from the PAPE presenting the Palestinian reality and beautiful landscape.

Dr. Sabri Naser, Vice President for Administrative Affairs commended the students’ works and said that the gallery gave children hope and reinforced their creative thinking.

وتIt is worth mentioning that the photography training workshop was part of the American Corner projects for children and students in Nablus refugee camps over three years.

  • The opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Zeyad Athamneh, Director of Public Relations in Nablus Governorate; Mr. Khaled Mufleh, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department; Ms Alia Gilbrecht, Coordinator of the American Corner Nablus; Mr. Rasheed Lefdawi, Director of the Photography Unit at An-Najah and Mr. Gerges Mansour from the U.S Consulate General Jerusalem in addition to a number of local photographers and a group of An-Najah students.
