The International Youth Exchange Programme (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah concluded the activities of its 3rd international voluntary camp for the year.


The camp included 13 international volunteers from Germany, France, Britain, Ireland and Italy who worked on developing students’ practical and lingual skills and competencies in English through a series of workshops on successful public speaking and effective conversation skills.

The workshops were offered to 100 students and consisted of 15 training hours.

The camp included a series of educational visits organized for the international volunteers to learn about the living conditions of Palestinian cities, villages and refugee camps.

  

The volunteers visited Qalqilya City, Khirbet Tana, Balata Camp and Joseph’s Tomb and the Old City in Nablus.

Zajel also organized a lecture on energy policies in Palestine moderated by Dr. Tamer Khatib and another on reality and future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict moderated by Dr. Amjad Abu Al-Ezz.

The volunteers were also given tours to Al-Aghwar region Wadi al-Maleh, Wadi Far'a, Tubas and Wadi Al-Bathan as well as Aqraba, Anabta, Ramallah and Rawabi city.

In addition to that, they visited the Samaritans Village, the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, the Church of Nativity and the Milk Grotto Church in Bethlehem, Solomon Pools and the Apartheid Wall.

The visits introduced the volunteers to the agricultural, social, religious and political developments in Palestine.

Moreover, the camp included organizing an exhibition on the heritage and identity of Germany which introduced An-Najah students to Germans’ history, culture, traditions and customs.
