On Sunday, March 6th, 2016, An-Najah National University participated in the Lancet Palestinian Health Alliance (LPHA) Seventh Annual Conference titled: “Health of Palestinians, inside and outside the Occupied Palestinian Territories” in Amman, Jordan.


The conference was over three days from March 6th-8th, 2016 and was supervised by the Lancet World Medical Journal, Birzeit University and the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).

The conference aimed at discussing research papers on the health of Palestinians in various aspects; the impact of occupation and social and economic effects.

An-Najah researchers submitted 13 research papers which tackled various issues, some of which are the effect of lead material on children’s health and the effect of social media “Facebook” on adults’ mental and physical health.

On the second day, Dr. Sabrina Russo from An-Najah won the best poster award as her paper shed light on the difficult situations that encounter Palestinian children under occupation.

The conference participants called for adopting new policies to protect Palestinians and preserve their rights in health care.

 

Notes:

  • The conference was also attended by international academics and researchers, the World Health Organization, the Palestinian Ministry of Health and a number of Public Health MA students from different Palestinian Universities.
  • The Palestinian delegation included Professor Ansam Sawalha, Dr. Ramzy Shawahni, Prof. Waleed Sweileh, Dr. Saed Zyoud, Dr. Samah Al-Jabi, Dr. Bilal Rahhal, Dr. Basma Damiri, Dr. Amira Shaheen, Dr. Liana Al-Labadi and Dr. Suad Balkabir.
