The private, justice, research, and educational sectors play a crucial role in

the advancement of countries. In order to accomplish the idea of leadership in the fields of private law, especially in-depth studies, developing countries attempt to offer a suitable environment for the development of laws and the promotion of scientific research, and this necessitates the provision of a sound legal system.

Since the stability of civil and commercial transactions and the provision of a sound legal environment play a significant role in the development of institutions, Palestine is one of the developing countries that needs advancement in legislation regulating modern business. This requires specialized competencies characterized by a high level of knowledge, qualification, and critical and analytical skills in order to understand legal gaps and reviewing how developed countries have established their legal systems and how much their experiences might be applied to Palestinian legislative policy.

Accordingly, there is a need for a specialized legal program that can study and research legal developments in Palestinian institutions relating to private law. As a result, the idea of developing and starting a PhD program in private law was developed in order to increase competences needed to be able to deliver and comprehend Proofs of a sound legal environment in the field of specialization.

According to its commitment to social responsibility, the University was eager to offer new academic programs that are essential to the growth and advancement of society. Also, as there is no a specialized program linked to the PhD degree in private law in the Palestinian universities, the University offered the program to meet the needs of the local, regional, and international markets for this specialty.

Graduates of this program will have the legal and professional skills to be able to work in a variety of institutions (higher education institutions, the justice sector, legal departments, the public sector, the private sector, the private sector, scientific research institutions, etc.). Also, they will be able to solve legal gaps and deal with legislative developments in private law, and apply the experiences of developed countries in Palestine.

 

Coursework and Assessment

Students are evaluated as follows:

  • Midterm exam: 30%
  • Preparation of a research study: 40%
  • Final exam: 30%
