Extraction Technologies

An-Najah National University (ANNU) utilizes sustainable water extraction technologies on its associated grounds off campus, particularly in research farms and agricultural sites. For example, at the university’s Al-Nassariyah farm, groundwater is extracted using energy-efficient pumping systems powered by renewable energy sources with capacity 50 kW/h. Additionally, the university employs advanced water extraction technologies that reduce energy consumption and environmental impact, such as variable-speed pumps and smart water management systems that monitor and optimize water extraction based on real-time data.

These sustainable water extraction practices reflect the university’s commitment to applying innovative technologies to ensure the responsible and efficient use of water resources on off-campus sites.

A submersible pump with all suitable column pipes, discharge head, electrical cable, and provide all pump curve, and specification, impellers should be made of 304 or 316 stainless-steel.                

The pump installed at the depth of 240 mbgl, pumps 120 m3/hr, against total dynamic head of 220m, with all level protection instruments and provide all fitings and accessories needed to operate the pumping unit properly, according to the following specification:     

Pump specification

1. European made, submersible electric pump with operating point of Q= 120 m3/hr, H= 220 Meter.                                              

2. Built in non-return valve made of stainless steel, with integrated spring.                                                                            

3. Efficiency not less than 75% at operating point.                   

4. Corrosion resistant.                                                                     

5. Impellers and diffuser bowls made of stainless steel grade 316 or 304.                                                                                            

 6. Delivery casing made of stainless steel.                                   

7. Suction support made of stainless steel.                                   

8. Shaft nade of stainless steel grade 416 or higher.                     

9. Coupling and flange mounting dimensions meet NEMA standards.    

Motor Specifications: 

1. Power: 111 KW with 1.15 SF.                                                  

2. Rewindable, 400 volts three-phase, 50 Hz motor with water filled winding.

3. PVC windings insulation

4. Efficiency > 85%.                                                                        

5. Motor operating at 85% of full load.                                     

6. Allowable temperature of water in contact with motor up tp 30C

7. Mechanical Seal Material: Stainless steel, Carbon Graphite, Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide.
