An-Najah National University proudly acknowledges the outstanding accomplishment of its theater team, whose members secured the prestigious Best Group Performance Award at the 19th International Festival of University Theater held in Tunis.


In a resounding testament to the institution's commitment to nurturing a dynamic generation and fostering a forward-looking nation, An-Najah National University takes immense pride in honoring the exceptional achievement of its students within the University theater team. The team's compelling theatrical performance earned them the coveted Best Group Performance Award at the 19th edition of the International University Theater Festival of Monastir in Tunisia, a momentous event that convened diverse teams from across the Arab world and beyond.

This landmark achievement adds to the growing tapestry of An-Najah National University's international successes, demonstrating its dedication to excellence on a global scale. The University's theater team, operating under the esteemed guidance of the Deanship of Student Affairs, secured the Special Jury Award for their exceptional group performance during their inaugural representation of Palestine at the 19th International Festival of University Theater.

Under the direction of Mr. Saeed Saadeh and with lighting and sound artistry by Mr. Akram Zamil, the production titled "The Other Side" captivated audiences in Monastir as Palestine's representative in this prestigious festival. The festival, which ran from August 5th to August 13th, 2023, featured 22 captivating theatrical performances from 16 countries worldwide, making the victory even more remarkable.

This accomplishment stands as a testament to An-Najah National University's historical significance. The University's participation in this esteemed international event as the representative of the State of Palestine marks a watershed moment.

The exemplary members of the University's theater team include Diaa Serafi, Marah Abu Arab, Hanin Bani Shamsa, Amr Dwaikat, Fares Asmar, and Omar Abu Laban, who all showcased remarkable talent and dedication. Their accomplishments were made possible with the guidance of Mr. Muhammad Daqqa, Dean of Student Affairs, and the supervision of Ms. Samar Mohsen from the Deanship od Students’ Affairs.

In a poignant gesture, the Palestinian delegation dedicated this momentous victory to the martyrs, the freedom fighters, the resilient refugees in camps, the entire Palestinian populace, and the An-Najah National University community.

Reflecting on this achievement, Mr. Muhammad Daqqa highlighted the University administration's steadfast support for student engagement and activities, both locally and internationally, despite the challenges faced by Nablus Governorate and An-Najah University. He emphasized the remarkable spirit of determination and innovation that distinguishes the University's students and teams.

Furthermore, Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of An-Najah National University, expressed his deep gratitude and admiration for the accomplished students, acknowledging the diligent efforts of the Deanship of Student Affairs, led by Mr. Muhammad Daqqa, and its dedicated staff. Their unwavering commitment to nurturing and empowering university teams, and providing them with the tools to excel creatively, has been a driving force behind this remarkable achievement.
