In a remarkable achievement, Jinan Abu Al-Rub, a student from the Computer Science program at An-Najah University’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, has successfully qualified to join the team representing Palestine in the upcoming Swiss International Hackathon.


This prestigious opportunity arose after Al-Rub's outstanding performance in the local competition organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Technological Center Creativitylll and the Palestinian Computing Hackathon Committee. The event, conducted over Zoom, witnessed the active participation of 18 students from various universities, including An-Najah University, Birzeit University, Al-Quds University, Kadoorie University, Polytechnic University, the Arab American University, and Palestine Ahliya University.

Al-Rub will stand as Palestine's representative in the Start of Hack international hackathon, scheduled to take place at the end of March in Switzerland. Joining her in the team are Ruba Dayyeh from Birzeit University and Walid Qasas from Al-Quds University.

Expressing his delight, Dr. Muhannad Al-Haj Hussein, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, commended this outstanding achievement, emphasizing An-Najah University's commitment to nurturing students' skills and fostering their competitiveness on the global stage.

Dr. Anas Tohme, a member of the hackathon preparation and judging committee, highlighted the importance of students participating in both local and international competitions. He underscored how such engagements equip students with essential skills and knowledge across various fields. Dr. Tohme extended his best wishes to the student team, expressing hopes for their remarkable performance on the global stage. He also acknowledged An-Najah University's administration for facilitating students' participation in diverse competitions and creating an educational environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

The hackathon, beyond being a platform for honing technical skills, provides participants with insights into solution-building, quality enhancement, and out-of-the-box thinking. It serves as a catalyst for participants to better navigate challenges, and entrepreneurship, and engage with decision-makers in global companies.
