The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings stand as the sole global performance tables that evaluate universities based on their alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This distinctive ranking methodology assesses universities' efforts and commitment toward achieving the 17 SDGs defined by the United Nations in 2015. These goals encompass a broad spectrum of critical social and economic development issues, including poverty, hunger, health, education, climate change, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, environment, social justice, and more.

To qualify for participation in this prestigious ranking, universities are required to engage in a minimum of four sustainable development goals. Among these goals, the seventeenth goal, which focuses on partnerships for the goals, is compulsory. Universities' rankings are determined by their performance in the three best goals in which they participate.

An-Najah University has proudly embraced all 17 sustainable development goals outlined by the United Nations, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to sustainable development and societal advancement.

The announcement of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023 took place during the esteemed Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress, held from 30 May to 1 June 2023 at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Nidal Dweikat, Vice President for Planning, Development, and Quality Assurance at An-Najah, represented the University at the event, showcasing its dedication to sustainable development initiatives.
