AIChE An-Najah Student Chapter Wins First and Third Place at the Regional Research Poster Competition in Jordan
The American Institute of Chemical Engineers student branch (AIChE) at An-Najah recently participated in the First AIChE Student Regional Conference's Research Poster Competition in the Middle East, winning first and third place. The conference was held at the Jordan University of Science and Technology where An-Najah students presented four graduation projects during the period April 22-23, 2019.
The first AIChE Student Regional Conference ever to be held in the Middle East featured a research poster competition and networking and educational opportunities for undergraduate students.
The two-day conference aimed at connecting chemical engineering students from across the Middle East to foster future collaboration among the AIChe student chapters. The conference also included educational workshops on chemical engineering.
An-Najah's participation included four graduation projects. Each project was evaluated for two hours by a variety of international specialists in a variety of chemical engineering fields.
An Najah’s AIChe student branch performed exceptionally well, taking both first and third place prizes for their graduation projects. The first place project, titled, ‘Corn Silk Applications in Medicine and Cosmetics’ was completed by Mohammed Mukharza, Farid Dardouk and Hala Arandi under the supervision of Dr. Hosni Odeh.
The third place project, titled, ‘Converting Plastic Waste to Beneficial Products" was completed by Selena Semaan, Saja Nusair and Nemat Khalil under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Sayed.
