Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of the University, was appointed as a member of the Commission for Universities and Communities in the Euro-Med Region of the EMUNI University.  President Hamdallah as appointed alongside the presidents of five Universities: University Paris 8, Sofia University St. Kilment Ohridski, University Porto, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, and Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies.  The appointment is in accordance with the decision of the Senate of the EMUNI University.The EMUNI University, with its seat in Piran-Portorož, Republic of Slovenia, was inaugurated on June 9, 2008.  Its objective is to be an international, post-graduate, higher-education, and research institution, fully integrated in the Euro-Mediterranean area.  EMUNI was cofounded by universities and other higher-education and research institutions.  In Barcelona on 26 November 2008, the institutions that signed the Foundation Charter had the right to appoint a representative to the General Assembly which adopted the Statute of the University.   The Charter has so far been signed by 118 institutions from 32 countries. The aim of the University is to be an international, mainly postgraduate and research academic institution within the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.  The main objectives of the University are to support and strengthen the existing co-operation networks among universities and institutes by promoting and organizing joint study and research programs, and to contribute to the enhancement of intercultural dialogue and dialogue between culture and to the strengthening of the Barcelona Process in general.   The appointment of Prof. Hamdallah highlights the role he is playing as leading academician on the local, regional and international levels, as well as the engagement of An-Najah in regional and international academic programs of cooperation.
