An-Najah National University Awaits more ABET Accreditation
On Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 a delegation from the ABET started a 3-day visit to An-Najah to evaluate readiness of the educational outcomes and facilities for the ABET accreditation. The agency delegates praised An-Najah’s educational methods and the competency of its staff and students as well as its facilities and that match the international standards.
An-Najah has already obtained ABET accreditation for seven of its engineering programmes in 2013 and has recently applied for two more programmes.
Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah praised the remarkable efforts which have been made during the period of preparation for adoption by the ABET team and An-Najah staff in developing the quality of the programmes in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and the other colleges.
He further commended the outstanding effort by An-Najah’s Quality and Accreditation Unit- ABET Centre, which was established in 2011for the specific reason of preparing programmes of Engineering and Technology Information for the ABET accreditation and following up to ensure quality assurance in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.
- Established in the United States in 1932, ABET is a non-profit and non-governmental accrediting agency for academic programmes in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology worldwide.
- The accredited programmes obtained in 2013 are: Civil Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Industrial Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Mechatronics Engineering; and Telecommunications Engineering.
