On Thursday, November 4, 2021, Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, An-Najah University President, met with a delegation from the Turkish Consulate General in Jerusalem to discuss possible means of mutual cooperation in different fields.


The delegation included Ambassador Ahmet Rıza Demirer, Mrs. Semra Demirer, Deputy Consul General, Mr. Sabahaddin Tarhan, Commercial Attaché, Mr. Reha Ermumcu, Cultural Attaché Mr. Reha Ermumcu, and Mr. Tareq Ali, Consulate Employee. It was received by Dr. Abdulsalam Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Khaled Al-Husseini, Director of the Public Relations Department at the University.

The visit focused on learning more about An-Najah, and discussing ‎possible means ‎of mutual cooperation in the realms of academic and cultural exchange in a way that ‎serves both ‎parties. ‎

Prof. Zaid welcomed the delegation and briefed the delegation on An-Najah’s mission, history, facts, figures, international rankings and other academic achievements as well as the political and financial challenges that encounter higher education in ‎Palestine. He also commended the role of the Turkish Government in supporting ‎the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people. He added that the University ‎mission is to provide high quality education, encourage scientific research projects, ‎and serve the Palestinian community. ‎

Additionally, Prof. Zaid stressed the importance of the cooperation An-Najah has with a number of academic Turkish institutions.

The delegation was quite impressed with the academic and research achievements of the University, and emphasized on the importance of developing cooperation in various fields. The delegation also discussed further means of academic ‎cooperation with An-Najah through cultural exchange and joint programs and ‎commended An-Najah's academic progress on different levels.
