An-Najah National University, represented by Dr. Nidal Dwaikat, Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality Assurance, signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as part of the “Generating youth employment and economic empowerment opportunities through advancing the Palestinian innovation eco-system” Project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).


The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mahmoud Abu Mowais, Ms. Chitose Noguchi, Deputy Special Representative of UNDP's Program, Mr. Thomas Jenatsch, Deputy Head International Cooperation at SDC, Dr. Basri Saleh, Basri Saleh Deputy Minister of Education, and Dr. Abdel-Razzaq Al-Natsheh, Manager of the”Generating youth employment and economic empowerment opportunities through advancing the Palestinian innovation eco-system” Project at the University.

The project aims at generating new employment and economic empowerment opportunities through newly emerging Palestinian entrepreneurs and start-ups, supported by a more cohesive and integrated entrepreneurial community. It also aims at building a strengthened Palestinian tech start up community with enhanced cooperation between academy and private sector that generates employment opportunities and perspectives for Palestinian youth and women.

Dr. Dwaikat noted that through the project, University students and fresh graduates will develop enhanced entrepreneurial mindset and capacities for transitioning their research into business ideas. He added that the project will contribute to the development of an enriched, participatory and inclusive pipeline of new, market-driven business ideas rolled out in Palestinian incubators and accelerators.
