The Rosary School Participates in Simulation Experiments at An-Najah
Students from the Rosary Sisters’ High School in Jerusalem participated in different scientific experiments within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah National University. Students were also escorted in a tour to different medical facilities and laboratories.
The high school students were introduced to different scientific experiments that are conducted within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, including the simulation and data extract in the Nursing Department.
Mr. Ashraf Qatamish, the supervisor of the laboratories, explained the mechanisms and the advanced practical training for medical students to identify the vital signs of patients and aid providing techniques through simulation with modern technological devices and sensors. In addition to presenting the methods of treating patients, giving birth, and life saving techniques.
In the neuroscience laboratory, Dr. Muhammad Al-Qunaibi, the laboratory's supervisor, provided a thorough explanation about the methodologies of operating laboratories, and the importance of studying neuroscience, and how to carry out a cell transplants taking into consideration the appropriate conditions for its growth.
Dr. Al-Qunaibi demonstrated the mechanism of measuring the electrical current that results from the stimulation of neurons. He also showed students the required devices to perform surgeries on mice, and the safety rules and sterilization of laboratories.
During the tour, the students visited the stem cell laboratory. Dr. Yousef Salameh, the supervisor of the laboratory, presented the future aspirations for the stem cell laboratory according to new technologies and sciences. They also visited the mice’ laboratory and were introduced to the different scientific experiments conducted there.
The students also got to visit the Department of Medical Imaging Science, where they were briefed about the department and its role in medical sciences through the followed medical imaging processes and techniques.
Finally, the students visited the laboratories of the Department of Pharmacy and the optometry. They were introduced about the practical applications of these sciences and the researches and training associated with it.
It is worth mentioning that this visit was the second for the Rosary Sisters’ High School. It was part of the Public Relations Department School Visit Program which aims to introduce school students to the University's faculties, facilities, programs and enrolment process.
