The University Bids Farewell to Dr. Husni Al-Masri
An-Najah National University bids farewell to Dr. Husni Fahmi Al-Masri, who was devoted to the university, in a journey full of giving, loving and sincerity of work. Al-Masri worked for the university his entire life. He served as the head of committee for reviving and developing the legacy of An-Najah University since it was established in 1918.
Dr. Al-Masri started his journey at An-Najah National College as a student, before completing his general secondary education in Jordan, and later obtained a BA degree in law with distinction from the Beirut Arab University and Alexandria University in 1977.
An-Najah University granted Al-Masri a scholarship to the United States, where he obtained a master degree in higher education management with distinction in 1981. He Also obtained a PhD in the same field to return to An-Najah University with distinguished knowledge and spirit of devotion.
During his journey in An-Najah, Dr. Al-Masri held different administrative and academic positions, in both An-Najah National College and An-Najah National Institute. He also headed the Deanship of the College of Education and An-Najah National Community College in the period (1983-1992). Dr. Al-Masri was titled as the oldest employee of the An-Najah institution.
Dr. Al-Masri left a great educational impact on his students, as he supervised and discussed tens of MA theses. He also published scientific research papers including a research about the philosophy of higher education in occupied Palestinian territories, requested from the Palestinian Liberation Organization. Dr. Al-Masri had a distinguished national presence as he was a member in different charitable, educational and civil associations, including: The Board of Trustees of Al-Rawda College of Vocational Sciences in Nablus, the Patient Friends Association, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and the Society for the Hearing and Speech Impaired.
There is no doubt that the university today bids farewell to a sincere son, who left a remarkable heritage. Dr. Husni Al-Masri left notable fingerprints in all corners of the university, which he loved and belonged to, as a student, teacher and historian.
