The Palestinian Child Institute in collaboration with the Thalassemia Patients Friends Association recently concluded the Family-Centered Empowerment Program for Thalassemia Patients.

The program sessions were based on providing support and primary healthcare for the patients and their parents. They aimed at enhancing the quality of mental health for both the patients and the parents as well as raising mothers' awareness on how to deal with their patient children, encouraging children to commit to regularly take their medication and building a stable healthy lifestyle.

The program resulted in setting an action plan through counselling sessions that aims to utilize playing for patient kids to boost better mental health and raise mothers' awareness on how to deal with and improve their children's skills.

It is worth mentioning that the program is part of a collaboration agreement the Palestinian Child Institute has signed with the Thalassemia Patients Friends Association as 24 sessions were completed over three months.
