On Monday, July 15th, 2019, the Office of International Development and External Affairs in cooperation with the Department of Social Work organized a guest presentation and discussion with American academic and social worker Professor Christina Lind of Plymouth State University. 


The event was attended by Dr. Samah Saleh, Chairperson of the Sociology and Social Work Department, a number of social workers, staff and students.  

The event included a presentation by Professor Lind about identifying different types of trauma, their effects on childhood development, and approaches that can be adopted within the field when working with individuals, families and communities affected by complex trauma.

The presentation was followed by an open discussion with the guests about practical experiences working with trauma affected clients as well as the unique challenges faced by communities in Palestine.

Dr. Samah Saleh concluded the event by leading a discussion about the Sociology and Social Work Department’s upcoming programs and recommendations going forward.
