On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received a delegation from the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem.


The meeting aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and the French Consulate as well as learning about possible academic exchange opportunities between An-Najah and other French universities.

Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and commended the role of the French Consulate in inaugurating exchange and research cooperation between An-Najah and a number of French universities. He briefed them on An-Najah's role in serving the educational process in Palestine and introduced them to the University's centres that serve the Palestinian community, most important of which is the Francophone Resource Centre.

He also thanked the French Government for supporting higher education in Palestine. Finally, he mentioned that the university is looking forward for further cooperation in terms of academic exchange and joint research.

Dr. Waseem Bishawi, Head of the French Department talked about the department's facilities and programmes and the challenges the students face during their study years.

The delegation in turn said that the French Consulate tries to offer the Palestinian youth opportunities to pursue their higher education in France and learn about the French culture. Therefore, the French Government offers various full scholarships to the Palestinian students in addition to other exchange programmes.  

At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of the French Department to learn more about its facilities and programmes.
