As part of the OpenMed EU funded project, a delegation from An-Najah National University participated in the 4th OpenMed Interim Meeting.

The meeting took place at Ibn Zohr University in Morocco and was over two days from May 3 – May 4, 2018.


The delegation included Dr. Ali Habayeb, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. Sa'eda Affouneh, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Science and Teacher Training, Director of the E-Learning Centre and Project's Coordinator as well as Dr. Kefah Barham and Dr. Ali Shaqqour, faculty staff members of An-Najah.

The meeting aimed at evaluating the project's phases' outcomes and the training offered to the participating universities and discussing future work plans and sustainable outcomes through establishing innovation centres for open learning in the participating universities. It also aimed at learning about the project's financial statement.

On behalf of An-Najah, Dr. Affouneh gave a presentation through which she exhibited An-Najah's future plans to boost the role of open resources in the teaching-learning process.

After the meeting, An-Najah delegation met with Ibn Zohr Academic Vice President who briefed them on the University's programmes, units and the services it offers to Moroccan citizens.

In turn, Dr. Habayeb talked in details about An-Najah's history, faculties, academic programmes and role in upgrading higher education in Palestine.

Dr. Affouneh also briefed the Academic Vice President on the teacher training programmes and the e-learning role in the educational process.

Both parties discussed possible means of mutual cooperation and agreed to activate the 2015 agreement between the two universities. They also discussed the possibility of establishing an innovation centre for open education at An-Najah.

OpenMed is an international cooperation project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme of the European Union during the period 15 October 2015 – 14 October 2018. It explores the adoption of strategies and channels that embrace the principles of openness and reusability within the context of South-Mediterranean universities.

An-Najah delegation also visited the E-Learning Center at Ibn Zohr University.
