On Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received at his office Ambassador Ashraf Suliman from the South African Representative Office to the State of Palestine.


The visit aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between South Africa and Palestine.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the Ambassador and stressed the importance of the mutual cooperation between An-Najah and South African universities. He also briefed the guest on An-Najah’s faculties, programmes, students and academic and research achievements.

In turn, the Ambassador expressed his admiration in the university’s academic and research progress. He also commended the deep relationship that links the South African and the Palestinian people.

At the end of his visit, the Ambassador met with political sciences students to give a lecture on South Africa’s policy towards the State of Palestine.

The lecture shed light on important political and economic issues such as the South African boycott of Israeli settlements, student exchange programme between Palestine and South Africa, comparing the political situation in both countries and the international solidarity with the Palestinian people.

At the end of the lecture, the Ambassador answered the students’ questions on the discussed topics.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Saed Al-Koni, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences; Dr. Hasan Ayoub, Head of the Political Sciences Department; Dr. Amjad Abu El-Ezz, Lecturer at the Political Sciences Department; Ms Dalal Radwan from the International Office and Mr. Khaled Mufleh, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.
