On Wednesday, June 1st, 2016, and under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas, An-Najah National University celebrated the launching of its 36th graduation ceremonies with the honoring of the top students from all faculties. The event took place at the Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz auditorium in the New Campus and was attended by the university vice presidents and assistants; faculty deans, heads of departments and a number of An-Najah’s administrative and academic bodies as well as Mr. Chen Xingzhong, Ambassador of the Republic of China at the Palestinian Authority; Mr. Xu Fang, Economics and Commercial Attaché; Mr. Furkan Ozdemir, Turkish Consulate General; Richard Buangan, Chief of Public Affairs and Mrs. Dana Rassas, Deputy Director of American Spaces for the West Bank and Gaza and other notable attendees.


The ceremony started with a speech by Dr. Hani Al-Nabulsi, Member of An-Najah’s Board of Trustees, followed by a speech by Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, then the Minister of Justice Dr. Ali Abu Diak, and finally the best achieving student Mohammad Ya'aqbeh. The ceremony also included two performances by An-Najah’s choir with maestro Dr. Ghawi Ghawi.

In his speech, Dr. Hani Al-Nabulsi conveyed the regards and blessings of Mr. Sabeeh Masri, Head of the Board of Trustees and commended Dr. Hamdallah’s efforts in setting the foundations for the university. He also talked about the progress made on An-Najah administration over the past years and congratulated the graduating students for achieving excellence.

The Minister of Justice Ali Abu Diak in turn, delivered President Abbas and Prof. Hamdallah’s best wishes for the graduates.

He went on to talk about the Palestinian government role in developing education and higher education in Palestine. He also praised An-Najah staff devotion to serving the university and congratulated the graduates and their parents and wished them a flourishing life full of success and innovation.

Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, thanked Prof. Rami Hamdallah for his efforts in setting the foundations of the university and taking it to an international competitive level.  He also listed the university’s achievements, most notable of which was An-Najah's Child Institute, An-Najah’s Satellite station, the training hospital as well as new BA and MA programmes.

The last speech was by student Mohammad Ya'aqbeh, top in the university with a GPA of 3.98/4, in which he expressed his great joy and pride and thanked his professors and his family.
