On Sunday, May 22nd, 2016, Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, ِAn-Najah's Vice President for Academic Affairs  received Dr. Guido Veronese, Senior Research Fellow from the University of Milano-Bicocca at the President’s Office in the Old Campus.


The meeting aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and the University of Milano-Bicocca in terms of academic exchange, co-teaching, PhD scholarships and clinical training for Palestinian graduates in the field of clinical psychology.

Dr. El-Amleh welcomed the guest and briefed him on An-Najah’s students and the economic and political difficulties that encounter them during their study. He also expressed An-Naja's interest in establishing a joint MA programme in clinical psychology with the University of Bicocca.

Dr. Veronese discussed further means of mutual cooperation with An-Najah especially peer to peer experience programmes. He pointed out that Palestine is a rich environment to do research on psychological cases as it is an occupied territory and that the Bicocca University is willing to cooperate with its various faculties as part of expanding the cooperation.

In Turn, Dr. Sabrina Russo, Director of the Clinic of An-Najah Child Institute stated that Palestine is attractive to researchers of psychology as it has a unique situation of continuous oppression that results in different kinds of trauma.

The meeting was also attended by Ms. Dalal Radwan from the International Office and Ms Shatha Jararaa from the Public Relations Department  at An-Najah.

Dr. Veronese is a Clinical Psychologist in promoting health and wellbeing in disadvantaged population and a researcher in studying functioning and positive adjustment in war affected zones. He is also a supervisor and trainer in family therapy and systemic therapies and scientific coordinator of several projects in Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Iraq-Kurdistan.
