An-Najah Professor Participates in an MA Thesis Discussion at Columbia University
On Tuesday, April 26th, 2016, Dr. Ali Abdul Hameed, Head of the Urban Planning Engineering Department at An-Najah participated in an MA thesis discussion at Columbia University in the U.S over Skype.
The thesis titled: “The Effects of Israeli Planning Policies and Practices on Palestinian Housing in East Jerusalem” was proposed by an American student at the university. The study sheds light on the effect of the Israeli planning policies and practices on the Palestinian housing in East Jerusalem which resulted in forcing Jerusalem residents to flee outside the city.
The study recommended the Palestinian public and private institutions to focus on the issue of resisting the Israeli urban planning in Jerusalem and the international organizations to support development and housing projects in Jerusalem as part of the Palestinians natural and legitimate right according to the international conventions.
