On Thursday, March 31st, 2016, Dr. Alia Assali, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teachers Training and Ms Rasha Shakhsheer, Director of An-Najah Montessori Kindergarten Unit participated in the International Childhood and Youth Conference in Costa Rica.

The conference was over four days from March 31st-April 3rd, 2016 and tackled issues related to children and youth worldwide.

Dr. Assali presented her research paper on the basic Palestinian curriculum content analysis in the light of the Rights of the Child Convention. Based on the descriptive-analytic approach, the study shed light on children’s rights to basic needs, development, protection and participation. According to the research results, the content focused mainly on the basic needs and the right to development but neglected the right to protection; therefore, Dr. Assali recommended redistributing the content terms to make balance among children’s rights.

Ms Shakhsheer talked about An-Najah Montessori Kindergarten Unit of An-Najah Child Institute and its role in supporting the integration notion for children with special needs.

Notes:

The conference was also attended by the American Fulbright specialist, Dr. Debra Young from the University of Nairobi who presented two research papers related to the subject
