Facilities

  • Piano Lab: The Piano Lab consists of ten digital pianos used to develop students’ skills to play the piano instrument in different piano courses through practical experience. Such courses are methods of improvisation, school anthems and songs, music analysis and harmonica. The lab can also be used by the students for / additional training during lab free hours.
  • Instrumentation and Record Lab Via Computer:
    The Instrumentation and Record Lab Via Computer consists of ten digital audio work stations used in several courses such as instrumentation by computers, Arab and international musical instruments and acoustical engineering techniques.
    Each unit (DAW) works as a diminutive sound studio used to record music and sounds by computers and other musical instruments’ applications.
  • Sound Studio: The Sound Studio offers modern recording equipment and systems, sound oxygenator, master of sound, setting sound system and AVID C24 system, an accredited system internationally and a standard reference in sound setting and recording world.
 

Industry

The programme aims at:

  • Promoting the musical culture and raising awareness of music in the Palestinian community.
  • Providing the local community with qualified graduates who are able to teach music education at all educational stages from kindergarten to university.
  • Providing the local community with graduates trained to play different musical instruments such as Oud, Violin, Piano, Flute, Guitar and Org.
  • Providing the local community with graduates who are able to form musical bands, choruses or corals
  • Promoting music and upgrading musicians status in the Palestinian community.
 

Teaching and Learning

The program uses a Variety of teaching and learning methods. And the diversification of education means create multiple methods and ways provides for the students of different abilities and interests and educational needs, equal opportunities to understand and comprehend concepts and skills to use them in everyday situations.

And the most important used methods in the programs:

  • Lecture Method.
    One of the most common methods used in education, and some name it (Declamation), this method is used by the majority of the department members specially to teach theoretical courses and it aims to give the students the benefit to develop their minds and knowledge's
  • Question Method.
    And this method is still one of the most common teaching methods to this day.
  • Discussion Method.Where the debate and discussion leads the students towards a goal or specific targets planned in advance by the teacher.
    And in this method the teacher and the student in positive position, discussing the topic, different student's opinions, and then come with a conclusion.
  • Practical Performance.
    Aims to give students the skills and techniques of playing different musical instruments.
  • The program also uses appropriate teaching and learning strategies that suite musical education objectives to improve music learning opportunities and developing creative thinking skills for the students.
 

Coursework and Assessment

Evaluation methods varied between Oral, Written & Practical exams, in which that aims to measure the level of knowledge and the ability to focus and understand all aspects of scientific and practical backgrounds and measuring memory and performance and creativity skills, in line with the mission and objectives of the program taking into account the academic quality of the department graduate numbers which characterized by knowledge and creativity in his field of specialty.

The most important used methods in the department is:

  1. Oral exams which are used in many courses in the program.
  2. Written exams and they are two types structural written exams and objective, these exams are used to measure student memory and understanding of the theoretical courses in the program.
  3. Short exams
  4. Practical exams that aim to measure learning outcomes related to practical skills of playing different musical instruments which student specialized in.
  5. Participation and Research.

And student performance evaluation examined through the following exams order:

  • First exam is held in the seventh week.
  • Second exam is held in eleventh week.
  • Final exam is held in the sixteenth week.

The marks of the participation and reports and Researches added to the final exam marks.
