Facilities
Program is executed generally in hospitals which distribute in the governerated of the Northern part of the west bank namely Nablus, Jenin,Toulkarm, Salfeet, Toubas, Qualqilia including University Hospital, governmental and Non governmental hospitals.
In academic year 14-15 collaboration with Nazareth English Hospital has been established.
Some courses are performed in primary health care centers or specialized clinics.
Lectures are delivered at health institutions as well as the Faculty campus, with the benefit of the vast library and computer labs.
Industry
Program has direct relation with the local community through direct contact with patients and their families and through social health activities done regularly by students.
After graduation, the program gives the opportunity for graduates to specialize in different health sectors which is reflected directly on benefit and development of community through its support with highly qualified health services personnel
It is out of question that research project which is a must for graduation also reflects so much positively on the whole community health and prosperity.
Teaching and Learning
- Methods of teaching and learning:
- Of at most importance is emphasizing the learner directed learning and excellence of teaching methods held to perform the best learning environment to students.
- Interactive limited student number meetings are substituting classical lectures to reach the optimal student – tutor interaction to attain the best benefit of scientific material delivered though well structured and regular timetable on daily bases after clinical day activities.
- Brain storming, interactive thinking and problem solving methods are used through regular rotation based seminars and meetings
- Usage of audio-visual facilities
- Morning reports performed in each rotation through the regular division and department activity with contribution of specialists and residents with full discussion of elective and emergency cases
- Morning rotations done daily to assess and manage patients in hospitals with specialists discussing patients history and clinical examination as well as diagnostic and management protocols
- Direct contact with patients to perform history and physical examination followed by detailed discussions with tutors and supervisors.
- Student discussion groups and teamwork studies
- Research projects
Coursework and Assessment
- Regular rotation evaluation through structured and established forms taking in consideration regular student development through courses, interactive performance, team work, moral and ethical professional conduct and behavior, dress code, scientific development and others.
- Practical exams at eh end of each rotation which involves patients in general with real life interaction
- Final e exam involving:
- MCQ computerized exam
- May involve VIVA
- OSCE for final year on regular bases and may be executed in other years
- Mandatory research project as a must for graduation which is professionally discussed in open scientific and social environment.
