This master's degree will provide the healthcare professionals from both, public and private sectors  with the needed knowledge and skills to help in achieving MoH goals and WHO sustainable developmental goals for the region, not only in terms of lowering the morbidity and mortality related to infectious diseases, but also in helping in reducing the antimicrobial resistance and the cost for the health system and patients, increasing therefore the quality and safety of delivered healthcare in Palestine.

Program Mission:

Achieve the theoretical and practical sufficiency for the up-to-date clinical and therapeutic prevention and control of infectious pathology.

General Objectives:

To develop a theoretical-practical learning, so that the healthcare professionals enrolled in this program obtains on the one hand, a thorough knowledge in the field of infectious diseases, and on the other hand to develop the skills necessary to establish an adequate screening, surveillance, diagnosis and treatment allowing you to carry out a care work with total safety.

The specific objectives of the program are to:

1. Know the main diagnostic techniques, sample management and advances in microbiological diagnosis.
2. Deepen knowledge of the different antimicrobial treatments: antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasitic and antiviral treatments.
3. Define and describe diagnostic and therapeutic methods in infectious pathology.
4. Transmit the responsibility that the clinician acquires in prescribing an antibiotic treatment and its consequences.
5. Identify new developments in the management of new antibiotics.
6. Raise awareness of the drug's rational use and its long-term consequences for the patient and the community.
7. Address the management of the different syndromes caused by infectious pathology.
8. Identify and classify the different types of infections that occur regularly in the community.
9. Differentiate the management of viral and bacterial infections in light of the latest advances in treatments of choice.
10. Incorporate daily practice the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for infections acquired in the community.
11. Incorporate into daily practice the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for infections acquired in the hospital or related to health care.

12.       Determine infection control activities in the field of intrahospital surveillance and control of nosocomial infection.

13.       Provide the necessary resources to promote clinical research, know the design of clinical studies and necessary statistical aspects in research.

14. Develop health programs at local and national level to address infection prevention strategies and to address antibiotic resistance in Palestine.
