An-Najah Launches NGATE to Promote a Culture of Innovation
A new center focused on promoting a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and research commercialization, stimulating the development and incubation of innovative ideas, and building the capacity of youth in partnership with the industry, is launching its first initiatives at An-Najah National University this semester.
The Business Innovation & Technology Hub (NGate), will leverage An-Najah university’s breadth of expertise and partnerships across multiple disciplines to allow scholars to investigate questions at the forefront of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship policy.
“Innovation and technology have transformed the way humans live and have expanded opportunities for millions of people,” said Mr. Mr. Rasem Sawwan, Director of An-Najah's Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence and the Business Innovation & Technology Hub (NGate). “We are excited to support the University and its scholars and students as they explore the intersection of entrepreneurship and technology and how that relationship impacts the development of new innovations. ”
NGATE consists of four units. The first unit is the Competency Development Unit, which aims to develop students' personal competencies, communication and leadership skills, The second unit is the Technological Incubator, which aims to support creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship amongst students, faculty members and youth. The third one is the Korean Palestinian IT institute of Excellence (KPITIE), which aims offer comprehensive and high-quality training programs in the fields of modern technology, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and software. The fourth unit is the Industrial Partnerships Unit, which aims to strengthen the University contribution to the development of the Palestinian community through developing communication links with the private sector as well as promoting scientific research, innovation, and industrial development.
The event was attended by Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of the University, Dr. Abdulsalam Khayyat/ Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mr. Omar Hashem, Chairman of the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Sami Khader, MA'AN's Director General as well as a number of An-Najah's academic and administrative staff and representatives from the private sector and other prominent figures.
