On Wednesday, August 03, 2022, Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, An-Najah University President hosted a delegation from the Czech Republic Representative Office to the Palestinian National Authority, represented by Mr. Jacub Slosarek, Head of Mission of the Czech Republic office, and Ms. Anna Moravkova, Head of Development and Economic Affairs to learn more about the University’s programs and discuss possible means of mutual cooperation between the two parties in different fields.


The delegation was also received by Dr. Abdulsalam Alkaiyat, Vice President Academic Affairs, Dr. Akram Daoud, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Kherieh Rassas, Vice President for International & External Affairs, Dr. Nidal Dwaikat, Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality, Mr. Khaled Husseini, Director of Public Relations Department, and the International Affairs Coordinator at the University Ms. Summer Abu Mughli.

Prof. Zaid welcomed the delegation and stressed the importance of the cooperation An-Najah has with a number of academic international institutions. Moreover, Prof. Zaid briefed the delegation on An-Najah’s mission, history, facts, figures, international rankings and other academic achievements.

Mr. Slosarek expressed his aspiration to initiate academic collaboration with Palestinian universities in general, and with An-Najah National University in particular.

During the meeting, they discussed academic matters of mutual interest, especially how to start ‎Memorandums of Understandings between institutions in Czech Republic and An-Najah, with the ‎focus on increasing collaboration with Eastern Europe countries as there isn’t any ongoing collaboration in the time being. ‎They also emphasized on the importance of developing student and staff exchange programs, especially in the Veterinary Medicine and Medical Sciences, AI programs, IT and Automobile Engineering.

The delegation was quite impressed with the academic and research achievements of the University.

During the meeting, Dr. Rassas talked about the financial and political obstacles that higher education in Palestine faces in terms of attracting international students and staff to Palestinian universities.
