An-Najah National University had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the Palestinian Student Scholarship Fund (PSSF) on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The delegation was comprised of Eng. Ali Atta, Chairman of PSSF's Board of Directors, and several board members. This visit aligns with the University's unwavering commitment to providing scholarships and support to its students across a wide range of academic disciplines.


Professor Rami Hamdallah, Vice Chairman of An-Najah University's Board of Trustees, warmly received the visiting delegation, underscoring the significance of their role at the national level in advancing education. He praised the pivotal role PSSF plays in bolstering students' resilience amid challenging economic conditions. He emphasized the University's commitment to forging partnerships with various supporting organizations, particularly in addressing the economic and educational hurdles faced by Palestinian society. Professor Hamdallah highlighted the importance of investing in the education of the Palestinian people, emphasizing that support from the PSSF transcends financial assistance to encompass a broader national and developmental mission. He also announced the University's decision to enhance its contribution from the fund to increase the number of beneficiaries, particularly in medical and health faculties.

Professor Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of the University, reaffirmed An-Najah National University's dedication to providing financial support to its students as part of its national and social responsibility towards the Palestinian people. The University sees it as its duty to contribute to the financial support of students, ensuring the continuity of the educational process. He highlighted the University's pivotal role in supporting students through various scholarship programs.

Mr. Raed Debiy, President's Assistant for Community Affairs, presented an overview of An-Najah University's social responsibility initiatives. He discussed the University's commitment to the local community through its various service institutions, including the Community Service Center, the Palestinian Child Institute, scientific centers, and numerous community partnerships. These efforts align with the University's vision and social responsibility, consistent with sustainable development goals.

The visiting delegation expressed their admiration for the academic and scientific achievements of An-Najah University and commended its global progress in international rankings. They expressed pride in the partnership forged with the University, given its reputation in the scientific community, both locally and internationally. The delegation also applauded the excellence of the University's students, citing the University's impressive development and resilience in the face of numerous challenges.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation had the opportunity to tour both the old and new campuses of the University, gaining insights into the various faculties and facilities. They also met students who had benefited from scholarships provided by the Fund. These students expressed their gratitude to the donors and the University for the invaluable support they had received during their academic journeys. To further connect with the cultural heritage of the region, the delegation embarked on a tour of the historic city of Nablus.

The Palestinian Student Scholarship Fund (PSSF) is a non-profit organization established in 2017 by a collective of Chicago-based Palestinians. PSSF is dedicated to offering assistance to Palestinian students who confront a multitude of obstacles, including financial constraints and discrimination, as they persevere in their pursuit of higher education.
