An-Najah Professor Participates in the Falling Walls Lab Competition for the Year 2017

Dr. Rawa Sawalha, staff member at the Faculty of Fine Arts participated in the Falling Walls Lab competition for the year 2017 which was held for the first time in Palestine.
The event was hosted by the Unit for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Birzeit University, organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and supported by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Falling Walls is a unique international platform for leaders from the worlds of science, business, politics, the arts and society. It was initiated on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.
Inspired by this world-changing event on 9 November 1989, the question of every Falling Walls gathering is: Which walls will fall next? Falling Walls fosters discussion on research and innovation and promotes the latest scientific findings among a broad audience from all parts of society.
This year's competition included 35 competitors of which 14 were qualified.
Dr. Sawalha participated in a research titled: "HEALING BY DESIGN: CREATING PUBLIC SPACES OF CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS".
The research paper shed light on the significant role of interior design and architecture in creating a healing environment in children’s hospitals in Palestine.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Sawalha's research will be published by a prominent international journal as she is working on implementing the project in Palestine.
