An-Najah National University proudly announces its active participation in a specialized training course on Ottoman manuscripts held in Ankara, Turkey. The course took place from 6-7 June 2023 as part of the Memory of History ERASMUS project, one of Erasmus+ program's capacity-building initiatives. An-Najah National University was represented by Professor Mahmoud Matar, Coordinator of the Memory of History project, and Dr. Luay Abu Al-Saud, Head of the Department of History and the Department of Tourism, Antiquities.

Organized by the Ankara Sosyal Bilimler Vakfi Foundation (ASBV) under the direction of Professor Amir Demir, this training course aimed to contribute to the preservation and documentation of Ottoman manuscripts in Palestine. The Memory of History ERASMUS project, funded by Erasmus+, seeks to compile a comprehensive book on Ottoman manuscripts in five languages: German, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, and English.

The training course brought together various participants, including representatives from Inercia Digital, a renowned company specializing in international training and innovation in digital skills from Huelva, Spain. Additionally, a German delegation composed of volunteers and members of the project's administrative body, as partners in the project, also actively participated.

Spanning a period of two years, from 1 January 2023 to 30 December 2024, the project entails multiple activities. An-Najah National University will host a second training course at the beginning of October this year. Furthermore, reciprocal visits between Ankara, Spain, Germany, and Palestine are planned to facilitate coordination and collaboration in launching a dedicated website for Ottoman manuscripts. The project will also involve the collection of unpublished manuscripts from libraries and private properties in Palestine, with the ultimate goal of publishing a comprehensive book.
