An-Najah National University participated in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East & Africa 2023, which was held from 10-14 March 2023 at the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in Kuwait. The summit was held under the theme of "Envisioning a Meaningful Future: Purpose-driven higher education in the Middle East and Africa" and brought together university presidents and academics from regional and international universities and educational institutions.


The University was represented by Dr. Nidal Dweikat, Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality Assurance, Ms. Summer Abu Mughli, International Affairs Coordinator, and Mrs. Dima Al Aker, Public Relations Officer. 

The summit focused on exploring significant opportunities that educational institutions in the region can embrace, such as offering high-quality education and employment prospects, valuable avenues for lifelong learning, and sustainable development. The summit also aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences on how to establish a system that enhances the scope of education in Middle Eastern societies on a global scale and fosters innovation, and technology.

The summit featured multiple sessions, workshops, and social activities, providing a platform for academic leaders and institutions to exchange experiences and discuss various topics in higher education. Notably, discussion sessions were held on key topics such as sustainability, challenges encountered by business schools in the Middle East, and reputation management of educational institutions, among other pertinent issues.

Dr. Dweikat was privileged to be selected as a keynote speaker at the summit and delivered a compelling presentation titled "How Can HELs MENA Region Sustain During Uncertain Circumstances?" In his presentation, he expounded on the challenges facing higher education institutions in the Middle East and North Africa region in ensuring sustainability, highlighting the best practices that institutions should adopt to adapt to new learning methods. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing digital transformation and building flexible and diversified revenue streams to enhance resilience and long-term viability.

The University’s delegation was warmly received by the American University of the Middle East staff throughout the summit. The presence of An-Najah, the only Palestinian university at the event, was met with enthusiasm and admiration by the representatives of other universities from the Middle East and Africa.

During the summit, An-Najah's team proudly showcased their institution at a booth located in the cultural center, alongside other prestigious universities in the MENA region. The team distributed informative brochures and gifts bearing the University's logo and website to visitors, while also engaging in fruitful discussions about potential partnerships with representatives and presidents of Arab and non-Arab universities.

The University's participation in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East & Africa 2023 was a great opportunity to exchange experiences with academic leaders and institutions and discuss various topics in higher education.
