For the third year in a row, Hult Prize Group at An-Najah University concluded the Hult Prize On Campus Challenge; the world's biggest platform for social entrepreneurship that focuses on environmental impact.


This year challenge included 80 students from various  disciplines, and the selection committee members were businesswoman Shireen Shelleh, member of the World Economic Forum, Ms. Doa Wadi, Executive Director at Business Women Forum-Palestine, Mr. Anwar Al-Shaer and Ms. Lama Al-Shanti from PalTel and the business leader Ahmed Al-Thalji as well as An-Najah team which included Dr. Nidal Dwaikat, Deputy President for Planning, Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Mona Demaidi and Dr. Tamer Khatib from the Faculty of Engineering and IT. 

The first place went to Clover Cups team which included students Alaa Mashaqi from the Computer Engineering Department as well as Hadeel Jalamneh and Farah Hassoun from the Architectural Engineering Department.

Their innovation mainly focused on producing an eco-friendly cups with smart feature that helps in providing a better journey for the customer. The smart cup is not just foldable; it is connected to an app that helps in providing a better experience for the customers. With each scan they gain points in return and for those points they get special offers and discounts.

The second place went to SOLIS, a free online platform that provides multiple quotes for photovoltaic solar systems to the people, which increase the competitiveness of this sector in the local and regional markets. It also increases the quality of these systems and reduces costs. SOLIS provides other services, such as, consultancy and contractual reviews, monthly system’s health and performance check and performance guarantees. The team members were Amin Bazyan (Founder) - Energy Engineering and Environment, Afaf Wahsh (Co-Founder) - Energy Engineering and Environment, Mahmoud Shaaban and Sami Dweikat - Management Information Systems.

The Green Bones teams, which included students Mus'ab Abu Hanya, electrical engineering, Mohammad Dwaikat and Salsabeel Daraghmeh, computer engineering and Marah Daraghmeh, chemical engineering got third place. Their project included manufacturing pencils using animal bones instead of wood.

Hult Prize On Campus gives students an opportunity to deliver social change by bringing Hult Prize programs at their universities. As part of the On Campus Program, students will be able to train, educate and inspire others by building an impact community around On Campus events. The winning team will have a guaranteed spot at one of 25+ Regional Summits happening across the globe. 

Founded by Ahmad Ashkar, the Hult Prize is one of the world’s most acclaimed entrepreneurship programs operating on more than 1500 university campuses in 121 countries and is a benchmark startup challenge for social entrepreneurship.
