An-Najah's E-Learning Center hosted Prof. Badrul Huda Khan, a world-renowned speaker, author, educator, and consultant in the field of e-learning and educational technology.

Prof. Khan was invited by An-Najah University to share his rich experience with An-Najah staff and seek out new promising areas of collaboration with the E-learning Center.


Prof. Khan met with Prof. Maher Natsheh, An-Najah President, as well as the University vice presidents, assistants and deans to discuss the importance and effectiveness of e-learning and the global e-learning strategies.

 Prof. Natsheh explained the benefits of using technology for learning as the University is moving from traditional learning to E-learning through creating the E-Learning Center and conducting many online programs with international institutions.

Prof. Khan gave a workshop on modern mobile learning trends. The workshop was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Subu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Saida Affouneh, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training, and many other staff members.

During the workshop, Prof. Khan talked about the definition of e-learning, the advantages of e-learning in light of today's digital development and requirements to setup e-Learning infrastructure as well as internet, digital world and technology based learning.

Prof. Khan also talked about his Web-Based Learning model which includes the themes pedagogical, technological, interface design, evaluation, management, resource support, ethical, and institutional.

 

Dr. Affouneh also talked about her experience in e-learning which started by reading a book for Prof. Khan and hence contributed in creating the E-Learning Center in 2012.

 Notes:

Prof. Khan has the credit of first coining the phrase Web based instruction and popularizing the concept through his 1997 best-selling Web-Based Instruction book which paved the way for the new field of e-learning. Known as the founder of modern e-learning, Prof. Khan is known as one of the Leaders in Open and Distance Education in North America. He is the founder of GyanBahan, the Knowledge Carrier - a practical application of competency-based lifelong e-learning.
