The Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine held an advisory council meeting chaired by Dr. Heba Al-Faris, the Dean of the Faculty, with the participation of heads and directors of the departments. The meeting aimed to exchange experiences between the faculty and the Ministry of Agriculture and supporting institutions from civil society and private sector that are related to the agricultural sector. The meeting also aimed to provide practical training opportunities for students according to the needs of the labor market, apply scientific research outputs in the service of Palestinian farms, and discuss the challenges facing the agricultural sector and methods to enhance the resilience of Palestinian farmer.


This advisory council includes representatives from the private and public sectors and different stakeholders in the agricultural field. This council has an important role play in serving the agricultural sector and institutional building, as well as the importance of creating partnership between the public and the private sectors, which will lead to increasing job opportunities and enable farmers to protect lands from settlement building and expansion.

The attendees focused on key issues, including the necessity of using treated water to cultivate the unused land in order to encourage graduates to rehabilitate and farm lands, provide job opportunities for new graduates, the importance of qualifying graduates to the needs of the labor market, and the need to provide agricultural student graduates with communication skills. The council agreed to prepare a professional diploma specializing in key specific agricultural issues that responds to the needs of the local market, and to start the registration process for a student cooperative to provide assistance for different entrepreneurial projects.
