On Sunday, July 22, 2018, an academic delegation from the Palestinian American Research Centre (PARC) headed by Mrs. Penelope Mitchell, the Executive Director visited An-Najah National University to discuss further means of mutual cooperation.

The delegation included a number of academics from different American universities specialized in media, public relations, film making, communication, Palestinian studies, political science, environment and weather.

The delegation was received by Prof. Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, Dr. Mohammad Al-Amleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Ms. Fatima Sayeh and Aya Jabri from the International Office and Mrs. Shatha Jararaa from the PR Department.

Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and briefed them on An-Najah's history, academic programmes for MA and PhD levels, scientific centres, students and the international agreements it has with a number of European and American universities. He also talked about the political and financial challenges that face higher education in Palestine, such as the increase in unemployment rates among university alumni and how An-Najah tries to develop entrepreneurial programmes to encourage the students to launch their own startups and thus solve the problem.

The head of the delegation in turn thanked Prof. Natsheh and An-Najah administration for their hospitality and commended the University's development on various levels. She also discussed the possibility of initiating further cooperation with An-Najah through students and staff exchanges and co-teaching projects.

The delegation then headed to the Scientific Centres at the New Campus where they met with a number of An-Najah professors to explore academic cooperation opportunities, and discuss their similar research interests in various fields, such as political science, journalism, media, public relations, women studies, weather and environment.  They also discussed the possibility of establishing virtual students exchange programmes for various departments.

The delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the Media Department and the Media Centre to learn about its facilities and units. They also had a meeting with the Media Centre Director, Mr. Ghazi Mortaja who introduced them to the Centre's history, goals, resources, services, programmes, An-Najah Broadcasting Channel, An-Najah Radio Station and An-Najah news agency website. He also talked about the challenges that face the Centre, most important of which is the difficulty of attracting sponsor programmes that contribute to supporting the Centre with the needed devices and equipment.
