Tracking Applications and Admissions

An-Najah National University (ANNU) places strong emphasis on tracking and monitoring applications, offers, admissions, and completion rates for underrepresented and potentially underrepresented groups, including low-income students, women, persons with disabilities, refugees, and non-traditional learners.

The Admission and Registration Department is responsible for regularly collecting and analyzing this data, monitoring key indicators across undergraduate and postgraduate levels to assess the participation and success of all underrepresented groups, and ensuring continuous progress toward equity and inclusion.

Purpose and Scope

ANNU tracks participation to ensure that its student body mirrors the diversity of society and that all applicants—regardless of background—have equitable access to higher education. The university regularly analyses data on:

  • Low-income students

  • Non-traditional students

  • Women, particularly in male-dominated fields

  • Religious minorities

  • Students with disabilities

  • Refugees and displaced students

Tracking these categories enables the university to measure the effectiveness of outreach, financial-aid, and mentoring initiatives, and to identify participation gaps for targeted intervention.

Data Collection and Methodology

  • System of record: All applications are logged within the central Admissions & Registration System (Zajel), linked with the Institutional Research and Quality Assurance Unit.

  • Data sources: Admissions files, student declarations, and verified documents provided by applicants.

  • Privacy safeguards: Sensitive characteristics—such as disability, religion, or income level—are captured only through voluntary self-identification and stored securely.

  • Analysis cycle: Data are compiled annually, reviewed by the EDI Committee, and summarized for public reporting in the Admissions Equity Summary and Annual EDI Report.

Tracking Enrolled Underrepresented group:

  • Tracking Women

  • Tracking Students with Disabilities

  • Tracking Religious Minorities Students

  • Tracking Students from Developing Countries
  • Tracking Refugees Students

Gender-Specific Insights

Women’s participation in traditionally male-dominated disciplines continues to rise:

  • Engineering: 45 % female representation

  • Information Technology: 47 %

  • Veterinary Medicine: 42.5 %

  • Agriculture Studies: 48.5%

Financial Aid and Socio-Economic Inclusion

ANNU’s tracking integrates financial-aid data to ensure that economic status does not restrict opportunity. Approximately 98 % of low-income students receive financial assistance, and the university continually monitors coverage rates:

Students with Disabilities

Between 2019 and 2024, 96 % of applicants with disabilities were admitted, and 100 % received financial aid, underscoring the university’s unwavering dedication to accessibility and equal participation. The Disability Support Office (DSO) monitors each case to ensure physical, technological, and pedagogical accommodations are in place.
