An-Najah Achieves Further Progress according to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities
The July 2018 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities resulted in ranking An-Najah National University 21 in the Arab World as it was ranked 27 in the January 2018 ranking. This makes it among top 2.5% in Arab World universities.
On the international level, the University was ranked 1800 while it was ranked 1944 in the January 2018 raking. This means that it is now among top 7.4% in world universities and the top in Palestine.
An-Najah is distinguished with its researchers who publish their production by prominent international journals of high impact factor. This paved the way to the University to achieve progress in this ranking which evaluates almost 26 thousand world universities.
On this occasion, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah congratulated the university staff members and researchers and commended their role in promoting the University’s excellence on the local and international levels.
- The "Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. CSIC is among the first basic research organizations in Europe. The CSIC consisted in 2006 of 126 centers and institutes distributed throughout Spain.
- Webometrics is a ranking system for the world's universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the Web contents (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks (site citations) they received.
The aim of the Ranking is to improve the presence of the academic and research institutions on the Web and to promote the open access publication of scientific results. The ranking started in 2004 and is updated every January and July.
