Incoming Students

An-Najah is pleased to offer courses and degree programs for international students who seek ‎to expand their academic and cultural knowledge. We offer cutting edge programs in several ‎scientific and humanities academic fields, in both under graduate and postgraduate studies. ‎‎(Click here for more info about ANNU academic programs)‎.

We encourage you to explore the rest of the site, if you would like to pursue higher education at ‎An-Najah, please be aware that while An-Najah is a licensed and internationally accredited ‎university, certain institutions may have discrepancies when interpreting credit hours and ‎applying them to domestic programs. Please check with your schools registrar’s office and ‎discuss the matter.‎

To be aware of tuition and admission fees at An-Najah, please visit this link, note that fees are ‎counted in Jordanian Dinars where each 1 J.D is approximately equal 1.4 USD

International students need to ‎cover their own living expenses, this include (accommodation, food, transportation, and other ‎daily living needs). In general, a student will need up to 500-800 USD to live within the ‎average living level: (1 room in a shared flat). This cost does not include other social activities ‎such as visiting historical places outside the city..etc.

Please find the attached document for general instructions on how to arrive to Palestine, this file ‎explains the visa issues, and other important topics. For more information on how to arrive to ‎Palestine please contact the international office ([email protected])‎

Please note that the Palestinian Authority does not issue visas for foreigners entering the ‎Palestinian Territories as they are occupied by Israel, therefore the visa you receive from Israel ‎will apply here as well. We do not guarantee that visas will be granted by the Israeli authorities. ‎

Some nationalities are not asked to apply in advance for a visa. They can get one on entry at Tel ‎Aviv Airport in Israel, or at the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge Crossing from Jordan into the West ‎Bank or through Sinai crossing border depending on which route you choose to come through. ‎We prefer the airport or Sheikh Hussein border crossing for internationals.

For more info, please visit this link; http://www.projectvisa.com/visainformation/Israel

Volunteers who would like to cross the borders through Jordan, (Amman Airport) need to inform ‎themselves from the nearest Jordanian embassy in their own country regarding the procedure for ‎obtaining a Jordanian visa. Some nationalities can also obtain their visas on arrival to Jordan as ‎well. ‎

There are three options to enter Israel and the Palestinian Territories and it is up to you to select ‎one. We recommend that you read them all, even if you have already decided.‎

  1. ‎Via Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel
Once you arrive to Tell Aviv Aiport, simply walk through to baggage claim after security and ‎there will be an individual holding a sign with your name on it to transport you to the university in ‎Nablus City. This is only available if you can afford the taxi expenses which costs around 90$.
  2. Via Jordan, Allenby/King Hussein Bridge ‎

Allenby Bridge (King Hussein Bridge) is the main entry point from Jordan into the West Bank. It ‎is controlled by the Jordanian authorities on one side and Israeli authorities on the other.  Please ‎do not confuse “King Hussein Bridge” with “Sheikh Hussein Bridge”.

A Single-entry visa can be obtained upon arrival except for restricted nationalities, Please ‎contact the Jordanian Embassy or Consulate nearest to you for more information. Upon entering ‎the airport in Amman, you normally have to pay about 40 Euro for a single entry Visa.

An-Najah runs several volunteering opportunities at which international students can spend their ‎extra time doing a voluntary work in cooperation with local volunteers. Interaction with our ‎students will increase your cultural experience. Following are some university volunteering ‎opportunities:‎

  • Youth Exchange Program (Zajel): http://youth.zajel.org/‎
  • English & Foreign languages training centers.‎
  • Other Administrative units (according to student qualifications and skills).

In order to understand the academic system at An-Najah University, you are recommended ‎to read this document including the Higher Education System in Palestine. (will be attached)‎

Definitions:‎

  • Academic Semester: the academic year consists of 2 semesters (fall semester, and ‎spring semester) each of them lasts for 16 weeks. Students can also admit to summer ‎semester which is an intensive study course of (8 weeks).‎
  • Credit Hour: one credit hour means one class meeting (face to face class meeting) per ‎week for 16 weeks (period of the 1st or 2nd semesters). During the summer semester, ‎students will attend 2 class meetings, one hour each, per week for 8 weeks.‎
  • Thus, studying a 3 credit hours course, means that students will attend 3 hours ‎meeting/meetings every week for 16 weeks (period of semester).‎

Procedure:‎
For students who would like to undertake a course (one subject) or an Academic semester ‎‎(several courses during one academic semester) the procedure is as following:‎

  • Browse the academic programs which are offered, read carefully the courses which are ‎intended,‎
  • Please note that An-Najah University is not responsible for credit transferee to your ‎national academic system (i.e. from credit hours to ECTS system). Thus you should ‎transferee these in advance at your home institution. Advice: it will be important that you ‎obtain a pre-approval from your home institutions or your academic supervisor before ‎you admit to An-Najah, this is important to insure the alignment of course description ‎and outline with your home academic program. Your supervisor can contact An-Najah ‎International relations office for further details regarding your study program
  • Once your selection is clear, you can contact the international relations office in order to ‎process your application inside the university. ‎
  • Once you receive the admission confirmation letter you can start obtaining the visa and ‎travel documents, and come to An-Najah.‎
  • After finishing your study, you will be provided by certification documents in English ‎language only, assigned with course/courses description that are needed to support ‎your admission and credit transfer at your home institution.‎

Weekends: Fridays and Saturdays are our days off here.‎

What to Bring:‎

In addition to the normal stuff (clothes, cosmetics, hygiene products etc.) we suggest for you to ‎bring: ‎

  • Your own medicine with copies of prescription‎
  • Pictures of your family and your country or small souvenirs to exchange.‎

Most men in Palestine tend to dress quite professionally, while women are usually very stylish. ‎We recommend when planning clothes for your trip that you keep in mind that you will be ‎spending your time with community and business leaders, as well as with academics and ‎respected professionals. ‎

Internet access

Internet access is readily available in the campus and at various school computer labs and in the ‎campus library.‎

Language

English is the second language used at Palestine

The political atmosphere

Volunteers will be informed about developments of the safety situation. You are asked to listen ‎to the instructions which are given to you. These instructions will be given to you not only by ‎your colleagues but also by local friends and neighbors.‎

Please note that the West Bank is geographically separated from Gaza so the level of security ‎and course of events in both places are different from one another.
