Leading Through Innovation: Developing International Best Practices for the SDGs

ANNU’s commitment to research excellence extends to the international arena, where it collaborates with universities and organizations worldwide to develop and promote best practices for tackling the SDGs. By sharing insights and reviewing comparative approaches, ANNU contributes to creating effective, adaptable, and globally relevant sustainability strategies.

  • Pearl Accelerator Project: In partnership with leading international universities and research institutions, ANNU has significantly contributed to the development of the innovative Pearl accelerator, based on Energy Recovery LINAC (ERL) technology. This project enhances energy efficiency in particle physics, aligning with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). 

  • Erasmus+ Projects: In 2023, ANNU collaborated on four significant international projects under the Erasmus+ program, focusing on areas such as doctoral program governance, agricultural advancement, virtual education exchange, and historical documentation. These initiatives support multiple SDGs, including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger). 

  • Virtual Exchange Collaborative: Established in response to travel restrictions, the An-Najah Virtual Exchange Collaborative connects students and faculty with international peers, fostering global dialogue and collaboration. This initiative promotes SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing equitable access to international educational opportunities. 

Collaborationf with Amman Arab University to organize a conference on "The Role of National Institutions in Addressing Climate Risks," hosted in collaboration with internationally recognized publishers such as Springer and Scopus. This reflects ANNU's involvement in platforms where best practices and innovative approaches for tackling SDG-related issues, particularly climate action (SDG 13), are discussed and shared internationally.

ANNU's role in implementing the TAIEX-Twinning project. This project aims to enhance Palestine's capabilities in environmental policies and strategies through partnerships with international entities. Such projects contribute to SDGs like Life on Land (SDG 15) and Climate Action (SDG 13), aligning with best practices in policy and environmental management.

ANNU’s membership in the Regional Union of Environmental Sciences showcases its active role in regional and global environmental networks. This membership allows ANNU to engage in knowledge exchange on environmental issues and policies with counterparts in West Asia, contributing to the SDGs through the promotion of sustainable environmental practices.
