The ten-hour long surgery was performed by a team of 15 doctors headed by Professor Saleem Haj Yahia, CEO of the Hospital.

Professor Haj Yahya said that the patient was a 19 year old Palestinian who had been suffering from acute heart failure and that he is now in a good condition and has returned to his daily routine.

Professor Haj Yahya had performed the same surgery in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon in the past and said that at An-Najah; it only costs 35% of what it usually costs in countries like the UK and the United States at the same quality.

Professor Yahya commended Prime Minister, Professor Rami Hamdallah’s and the Minister of Health, Dr. Jawad Awad’s roles in supporting the Hospital and stressed that such successful surgeries will increase the Palestinian community’s confidence in the local medical capabilities and discourage the need to go abroad for treatment.
