A delegation from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at An-Najah National University participated in a scientific visit to the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. The visit was over five days from May 30– June 3, 2022 and was part of “Reinforcing access to cross border employment at Palestinian higher education institutions” project’s activities (REACH). The project is implemented by the International Grants and Projects Center at the University and includes 9 Palestinian and European partner universities.


The University delegation included Dr. Ahmad Al Ramhi and Dr. Yahya Saleh form the Department of Industrial Engineering and Dr. Mohammad Abu Abiah from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering.

REACH is an Erasmus+ EU funded Project. It aims at enhancing the capacity of Palestinian Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in promoting cross-border employability of graduates, providing them with the capabilities for effective cross-border working, so that they can develop their potential and participate actively in sustainable economic development in Palestine.

The project also seeks to reinforce PHEIs links with local and international labour markets focusing on cross-border work, enhance the competence and performance of career centers/alumni units at PHEIs in creating and promoting cross border work employment, and strengthen graduates’ skills and know-how required for obtaining cross-border employment.

During the visit, the delegation visited the Mechanical Engineering Department’s laboratories at the University of Ljubljana. They also got training courses on several topics, including 3D printing technology, advanced manufacturing techniques and CNC machines, programming robots with ROS, automation systems, statistical quality assurance, and control systems.

It is worth mentioning that a new center has been established at the University through the project and it will be inaugurated soon through the International Grants and Projects Center in coordination with the project coordinator.

Notes:

The visit included the participation of five Palestinian universities: An-Najah University, the Islamic University in Gaza, Birzeit University, Al Quds Open University and the Polytechnic University) in addition to Society of Women Graduates (SWG) in Gaza.  It also included the participation of four European universities: The University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, Middlesex University in London, the University of Alicante and Guglielmo Marconi University in Italy.
